Orange Beach (population 6,000) is on Alabama's eastern Gulf Coast and sits next to the Florida border. It began as as a fishing and farming village in the 1800s but did not incorporate until 1984. Today, Orange Beach is an affluent beach resort, busy with tourists in the summer but very quiet in the winter when many businesses close.
